WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN ABLE ACCOUNT?
ABLE Accounts are for individuals whose disability began before age 26.
The disability must be long-term (more than 12 months) and must cause
“marked and severe functional limitations.”
You must also meet one of the following criteria:

You are eligible for Supplementary Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI); or

A doctor has diagnosed you with a disability (physical or mental)

Anyone can contribute to a Loved Ones’ ABLE Account. There is a lot of flexibility for representative payees to manage and control the ABLE account until certain ages, an entire lifetime or just to assist your loved one with managing expenses.
