Highlighting Gift of College’s support for ABLE accounts

This month’s feature is on Gift of College, Inc., an entity that has been deeply committed to raising awareness and improving use of ABLE plans through expansion of its gift card and employer outreach platform more than five years ago to include Gift of Independence gift cards and ABLE resources.

Employer Interface: Gift of College conducts extensive outreach to employers of all sizes and in all industries across the United States and in doing so, offers a convenient-to-use platform for payroll deduction and employer matching to ABLE, 529 college savings and student loan accounts. While integrated with one of the largest payroll providers in the world, ADP, Gift of College works with a wide variety of other payroll providers as well. Employers with employees in multiple states appreciate having a one-stop solution for employees to select whichever ABLE or college savings plan that is right for them – versus the Human Resources Department having to make a choice or interface with multiple providers. Employers find that the broad offering of college savings, ABLE, and student loan support addresses both financial wellness and diversity, equity and inclusion issues.

Partnerships: Gift of College partners with ABLE today, the National Disability Institute and individual 529 college savings and ABLE plans in a variety of impactful ways. From joint conference, community, and employer presentations to development of joint materials and co-branded gift cards, Wayne Weber and team sees tremendous value in collaborating with a wide range of partners to raise awareness of ABLE plans.

Gift Cards: Gift of Independence gift cards can be purchased in denominations of $25-$200 through giftofcollege.com and in collaboration through the National ABLE Resource Center. These are a perfect gift for birthdays and holidays and can be given year-round for other special occasions. Employer and community-use gift cards can also be purchased directly from Gift of College in larger denominations. Gift of College gift cards (which are redeemable into any ABLE account) can also be purchased at CVS and other retailers across the U.S.

Personal Connection: Patricia Roberts, Chief Operating Officer of Gift of College, brings her personal experience as the sister of an individual with a disability and her many years of experience with 529 college savings and ABLE plans to each of her employer, community group, and media interactions. She is a sought-after author and speaker who is on a mission to continue to shine a light on the critical role ABLE plans can play in improving financial wellbeing.
